You did what they told you. Four years, sometimes more. The loans, the late nights, the internship that paid in experience. You graduated and thought the hard part was over.

Then you met LinkedIn, Indeed, and every job application form, and figured out the toughest part was just beginning. A hundred job applications. You rewrote every cover letter until it didn't sound like you anymore. Some companies sent an automatic rejection at two in the morning. Most didn't send anything. The ones that answered wanted three years of experience for a job called entry level. If you were lucky, you got a few interviews, but the call back never came.

So you started something. A small brand. Freelance design. A photography page. Consulting, content, a service you could offer from your laptop. You made a logo at midnight and a business account the next morning. It wasn't really a plan. It was the only door that didn't need someone else to open it.

Now everyone calls it ambition. Your feed is full of people your age with their own thing, and everyone says "they chose freedom." Your family tells people you're an entrepreneur, because it sounds better than "still looking." You say it too. Some days you even believe it.

But you know how it started. You didn't leave the system to build your own. The system never let you in. Nobody asks about that part, because being your own boss was always sold as the dream. The thing you picked after you already had options.

And now you're the boss of everything. You're the marketing team, the accountant, and the person answering emails on Sunday. There's no salary, just good months and bad months. Nobody trains you. Nobody tells you if you're doing it right. If it fails, there's no company to blame. Just you, and a degree that said you were ready.

Your parents applied, got hired, and learned on the job. You're learning on a job you had to invent.

Maybe you are an entrepreneur now. But you didn't become one because you wanted to be your own boss. You became one because nobody wanted to be yours.
